Selenium originated as an internal tool at Thoughtworks before open-sourcing. Enterprises today are increasingly bringing open source development practices for internal projects. Based on the principles and practices experienced by wider open source communities, open source development differs from traditional software development methodologies. Open source development principles encourage innovation and increase team motivation, enables a culture of open collaboration and communication. Adaptation of these practices drives accelerated delivery of a reusable test framework. The talk will discuss the principles of open source software development, best practices, and approaches for internal adaptation and its challenges in test framework development.
