Three big ideas: The how, what, and why of testing at scale in an agile environment The agile revolution in the tech industry has affected everything about the way we develop software. So, it is not surprising that the pace and place of quality assurance has undergone enormous change as well. Indeed, it is difficult to overstate the degree to which quality assurance has become ever more essential as individual developers are expected to push out code with increasing speed at the same time they’re work becomes increasingly siloed, in effect leaving them less time to think about quality at the local level and leaving them blind to risks on the global level. The good news is that there is an excellent solution to these new challenges agile introduces. It is well known, effective, and so imminently reasonable that even in the hyper-partisan world of technologists a consensus has developed around continuous integration and deployment.
