To adopt the culture of shift left testing and the micro-service world, it doesn’t make too much sense when a software engineer writes his code but lets someone else write the test to make sure nothing breaks. Why not let your developers write the tests? Unit tests, Integration tests, or even End to End tests. You should empower your developers to write the tests and take ownership of the quality of their pull requests!
Takeaways from the talk:
- Share some practical experience on how to enable and empower the engineers on your team to build high-quality tests in their day-to-day development. At the end of the day, what you want is to make engineers’ life easier by writing the tests and value the importance of writing the tests, instead of letting them feel it’s low-priority work that can be done later on.
