Business Centric Approach to Test Management
Daniel Hochberger, Solution Consulting & Customer Success, Panaya
How to tackle complexity and ensures business continuity while managing change, by aligning testing activities to mirror to the actual business in production. This new approach marks a paradigm shift – from traditional code testing to business process validation.
Business process centric test management for business-critical applications should be built around five principles: automation, collaboration, visibility, compliance and process. It needs to be comprehensive, yet simple way for functional experts and business users to run manual and automated testing – faster and more effectively.
Analytics & AI in Testing
Emmanuel Abao, Associate Director, Accenture

Gherkin API
James Marvin Yu, Test Solution Architect, Willis Towers Watson
Contrary to the traditional way of test execution, which uses heavy and detailed test scripts with detailed test steps, the Agile way of test planning focuses on high level test scripts that are user and behavior centric instead of UI centric. Test scripts written are focused on satisfying the acceptance criteria, and are written from the perspective of the user and their behavior with the application. Through understanding who will use the feature and applying BDD testing techniques, we end up developing software that meets user needs, and delivering software that matters. Speaker will talk about using Gherkin, when to use one, combined with RestSharp API technologies and demonstrate automated API testing using .NET and Visual Studio
Effective Test Estimation
Francisco Castillo, SVP-CIO, Maynilad Water Services, inc.
Making use of Function Point Analysis (FPA) for Estimating Testing efforts” Function Point Analysis is a technique commonly used for estimating development effort of programs based on a set of metrics. In the case of off-the-shelf applications which require testing based not on coding (primarily) but on configuration item changes, the application of FPA is somewhat different and less straight-forward, and much of the effort in conducting changes lies in fact in testing, due to the nature of these applications, in which one change has the possibility of impacting many modules and processes. In Maynilad, we have adapted the use of FPA so as to benchmark and then estimate the effort needed to test. Two cases studies are then presented based on an SAP ERP platform, as well as for Business Intelligence. Some initial results are then presented.
Effective Performance Testing and Benchmarking
Enthony Go, Platform Software Engineering Manager, Oracle+Netsuite
The purpose of this presentation is to show how to establish and validate performance requirements through empirical data gathering and statistical analysis. The presentation will include a methodology on how to obtain significant performance metrics of critical scenarios under controlled conditions. Then, there will be a demonstration of how to use statistical analysis of metrics to determine performance baselines and trends. Finally, performance requirements will be tested and validated using baselines and trends on a customer environment.
Data Warehousing – Testing Principles Applied
Elmer Gulle, Program Manager – Data Platform and Advanced Analytics, Info Alchemy Corporation
With increasing awareness of analytics in business and with all its complexity, business stakeholders ponder.. can it be trusted? Data Warehousing is a mature practice with its share of technical evolution over the 3 decades since the invention of relational databases. And yet, it has a mortality rate of 50% based on analysts estimates. This means that 1 in 2 DW projects fail, or that each DW has already a 50% chance of failure at the point of adaption. Learn the concepts of data warehousing and how Testing principles are used to increase DW adaption in business.
DevQAOps
Noel Jarencio, DevOps Consultant, Freelance
The process of building and deploying products have radically changed and DevOps has greatly influenced on how high velocity organisations operate. The purpose of this research is to define and answer questions on What & Whys of DevOps and where does QA fit. The first phase involves describing the past and origin of DevOps. Then we will cover how QA have transformed during the past 10 years. In the final phase, we will explain how DevQAOps will benefit an organisation.
